Three Wins In One Night

Two new Councillors - and their local Lib Dem MPs

Liberal Democrats won in three council byelections in the North West last night. The elections were in Stockport and in Westmorland and Furness - two councils led by the Lib Dems.

The results were:

Stockport council - Bredbury Green & Romiley ward.

 Lib Dem: 1506  65.8% (+7.1)   
 Con: 552  24.1% (+5.5)  
 Lab: 127   5.5%   (-11.4)  
 Grn: 104   4.5% (-1.2)

Stockport council - Cheadle West & Gatley

 Lib Dem: 1159  45.1% (-12.0)  
 Con:   553   21.5% (+7.3)  
 Lab:   517   20.1% (+0.5)  
 Grn:   341  13.3% (+4.2)
Congratulations new Councillor Huma Khan

Westmorland & Furness council - Grange and Cartmel

 Lib Dem: 2180  84.8% (+7.6)  
 Con: 392   15.2% (-3.5)

Congratulations to new Councillor Tim Bloomer
