Give the people their say
Prime Minister Liz Truss has announced her resignation - just 44 days into her premiership.
Next week we will see the fifth Conservative Prime Minister in the space of six years in 10 Downing Street. The third since the 2019 General Election.
It's time to let the people have their say on the country's direction once more.
Lib Dem leader Ed Davey MP commented: "We don't need another Conservative Prime Minister lurching from crisis to crisis. We need a General Election now and the Conservatives out of power."
Deputy leader Daisy Cooper MP added: "After the damage that Johnson and Truss have inflicted on our country, the very last thing we need is yet another Conservative PM. "
Reflecting on the small electorate that gave us the fleeting Truss premiership, Cumbria's Lib Dem MP Tim Farron said: "We're about to trust the direction of our country at this most important time, to a group of people who have consistently shown that they have horrific judgment and terrible priorities.
"I trust the people, time to let them decide."
