Meet Jake Austin
Your Liberal Democrat Candidate for Greater Manchester
On 2 May 2024 alongside local elections for councils across Greater Manchester there was an election for Greater Manchester Mayor.
A Stockport resident, councillor and campaigner, Jake Austin is the Liberal Democrat candidate for the Greater Manchester Mayoral elections, fighting for a better deal for every resident in Greater Manchester.
Born and raised in Wigan before settling in Stockport with his husband Andy, Jake has spent his life living, learning and working across Greater Manchester. Raised by two parents who have spent most of their life working in the public sector, Jake has felt the devastating effects both Labour and Conservative politics have had on our communities across Greater Manchester.
“I am so delighted to be representing every single hard-working Liberal Democrat in Greater Manchester during this election.
"Our campaigners and councilors have shown the fantastic work they can achieve - whether that’s in administration, or out on the streets working directly with their residents. From Bury to Stockport, Wigan to Rochdale - our party is known for its commitment to local communities, protecting our green belt, and working hard for our residents.
"The Tories have run this country into the ground, and have dragged Greater Manchester with them. Labour are too scared of losing an election to enact the change our region desperately needs.
"Greater Manchester deserves a progressive alternative that is true to the diverse, welcoming and inclusive culture of our region.
"I am proud to represent that alternative as your Liberal Democrat Candidate.”
