Get Ready for a Snap Election at our Autumn Conference

First timer or regular, regional conference has something for everyone - lively policy debate, invaluable training, fantastic networking opportunities and much more.

Our 2019 Autumn conference is to be held in Lancaster on

Saturday October 19th. 9.30am - 5.00pm.

Getting There

The address is University of Cumbria, Bowerham Road, Lancaster LA1 3JD.

As in Autumn 2018, will be in the Sentamu building, which is near to the Gateway building which we used for previous conferences.

Accessibility note: almost all of the conference is on one level. The new main conference hall is a lecture theatre which is stepped/sloped, but has front row spaces for people using wheelchairs, mobility scooters etc.

The postcode for satnav devices is LA1 3JD. The nearest motorway interchange is Junction 34 of the M6 - alternatively you can leave at J33 or J35 and follow the A6.

Conference runs 9.30am - 4.30pm, with the registration desk opening at 9.15am.

Due to the extraordinary sitting of Parliament that day, we have had to rework the programme for the conference.

Training

We will have three training rooms with sessions running all through the day. The training programme will be published here nearer the time but will include:

  • Parliamentary Candidates Briefing.
  • Using the Snap Election to activate your Local Party.
  • Running a Successful AGM.
  • Local Party Treasurer Training.
  • Parliamentary Candidates' Briefing.
  • Election Agenting (full day in-depth course).

POSTAL BOOKINGS NEED TO ARRIVE WITH US NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 16.

We will destroy late arriving cheques after that date in favour of registering you in-person on the day.


What happens when you arrive

Note for first time attendees:

On arrival at conference you will be able to collect your conference pack and conference pass / name badge. You will only need your name and local party to collect this - if your membership card is lost or has not yet arrived from HQ as a new member, don't panic, it's not a problem.

Conference papers are sent by email and/or post in the three weeks before conference itself.


The AGM

The Annual General Meeting of North West Liberal Democrats will be held as part of the conference. Timing and agenda will be published here nearer the event.

Elections to the 2020 Regional Executive will be held following the conference. The regional candidates committee and regional representatives to the English Council will be elected at the same time and through the same process.

Nominations close at the close of conference, 4.30pm, 19 October 2019.


The Awards

The President's Awards are an annual feature of Autumn Conference, recognising the hard work of many people who have not enjoyed the limelight of council or parliamentary position but whose efforts have been essential to the party here in the North West. Nominations have now closed.
