Conference Comes To Lancaster

October 28, 2021 8:20 AM

Our Regional Conference returns to Lancaster this weekend, with a speaker lineup including Bernard Greaves, co-author of "The Theory and Practice of Community Politics". Bernard, who was the first openly gay man to hold public office in a political party in the UK, will give our annual Viv Bingham Lecture.

We will also hear from party leader Ed Davey MP, party president Mark Pack, and Layla Moran MP. Lord Stunell will give a report on the work of our representatives in Westminster, following Chancellor Sunak's budget this week.

Just as in February we welcomed LGBT+ Lib Dems for an event to mark LGBT History Month, this conference we will have a lunchtime fringe meeting hosted by the Lib Dem Campaign for Race Equality to celebrate Black History Month.

An afternoon session will look at winning in local elections - after a summer of Lib Dem wins in local elections in the North West.

The President's Awards will recognise long service to the party, while the inaugural Tony Greaves Award will celebrate grassroots community campaigning.

We will be returning to Lancaster, to the University of Cumbria, Bowerham Road, Lancaster LA1 3JD. We will be in the Sentamu Building, but the event will also run online via Zoom for people who would rather take part that way.

The event is open to Lib Dem party members from across the North West and you can book online here with Paypal or in-person on the day with cash. Doors open 9.30am and conference runs 10am - 4.30pm, followed by the regional Annual General Meeting.
